APPLY TO BECOME A RICHLAND PARK FARMERS MARKET VOLUNTEER!
We’re selecting applications from individuals, small groups, or organizations to volunteer at the Richland Park Farmers Market on Saturdays from 7:30am-12:30pm.
Requirements:
Position includes moving equipment, including but not limited to, boxes, tents, chairs, and parking cones weighing up to 50 lbs. Position also includes moving about on varied terrain, including parking lots, sidewalks, and uneven grassy areas.
Must be able to quickly and effectively communicate via SMS text message and phone during market operations. An internet capable mobile device is strongly recommended to facilitate consulting market social media and other online sources for vendor and shopper information. Must be able to communicate using the Instagram group chat for vendors and market staff, online calendars, and other methods.
Volunteers are responsible for consulting with other volunteers to ensure the market is covered when not able to attend. Must also communicate changes in availability to market staff in a timely fashion.
Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the market. If driving your own vehicle, must be willing to park a block away and walk to the market. We want to ensure there is as much parking as possible for shoppers.
Must have comfy clothes, shoes, and water bottle every market day. Sunscreen is HIGHLY recommended.
Load-In/Set-up
Placing market signage and parking cones
Helping to monitor and manage vendors’ vehicles and parking
Assisting vendors who need help with load-in, tents, etc.
Setting-up information tent
Market Operations
Staffing the info booth
Selling Merch
Conducting credit and debit card transactions for tokens using Clover POS machine.
Helping monitor shopper parking.
Running tasks for vendors who need help.
Passing out vendor slips for vendor cashout and market closure
Load-Out/Tear-down
Gathering all parking cones and market signage.
Helping manage vendor vehicle congestion
Picking up any trash.
Assisting vendors with food donations.
